This is my first unsuccessful video on trying to use a linear wipe. Due to the cookie placement there is a problem when I go to take the cookie as the linaer wipe only works in a vertical line unlike the masks which will be shown later.
As you can see the linaer wipe is showing both sides of the cookie before the switch over is made.
This is due to the linear wipe being on the cookie and could not be moved any further to the left because then it would start to rub out my arm.
This could have been resolved with filming the footage again so that there is a large gap between the two people and making sure that there is no overlap with the linaer wipe.
However as you can see from the next video I managed to make the effect work using a different type of effect.
So due to this unsuccessful linear wipe I decided to use masks instead of the wipe. If you would like to see a video of mine that uses the linear wipe please click on the following button to take you to my Dragons Den video from my AS work:
Moving on from unsuccessful media, lets go on to the successful videos. This next video is me using masks instead of linear wipe to create the effect that the cookie is being taken by the clone of myself. This is better than the linear wipe as I can select what parts of the frame I want to have the overlapping images while still being able to feather the masks:
